Church In
The Prison
We believe that imprisonment does not place a person beyond the reach of God's grace. Our mission is simple: to ensure that no prison cell becomes unreachable to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Bringing Hope Behind the Walls
Church In The Prison is the correctional ministry arm of The Bridging Church, dedicated to bringing the Gospel, discipleship, pastoral care, and practical support to incarcerated men and women.
We believe that every inmate remains a person created in the image of God, capable of redemption, transformation, and restoration. A prison sentence does not end someone's story โ it can be the beginning of a transformed life through the power of the Gospel.
"I was in prison and you came to me." โ Matthew 25:36
We take this as a direct instruction.
Four Correctional Facilities Across Lagos
Since September 2024, our prison ministry has maintained a consistent presence across all four facilities.
Kirikiri Medium Security Custodial Centre
Medium security facility where we hold regular worship services, biblical teaching, and discipleship programs.
Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre
Maximum security facility. We bring the Gospel into some of the most challenging environments in Nigeria's correctional system.
Kirikiri Female Custodial Centre
Ministry to incarcerated women โ often among the most overlooked in correctional ministry. We bring pastoral care, prayer, and discipleship.
Ikoyi Custodial Centre
Our ministry at Ikoyi extends the reach of Church In The Prison to one of Lagos's oldest correctional facilities.
More Than Occasional Visits
Our prison ministry extends beyond one-time events. We seek to establish a consistent spiritual presence within every facility we serve.
Worship Services
Regular worship gatherings inside prison facilities, creating space for inmates to encounter God in an environment designed to strip away hope.
Biblical Teaching
Systematic biblical instruction that addresses both spiritual formation and practical life challenges โ discipleship that prepares people for release.
Prayer & Intercession
Personal prayer and intercession for inmates, their families, and correctional officers โ extending the ministry beyond the gathered meeting.
Bible Distribution
We distribute Bibles and discipleship resources so that inmates have the Word of God available beyond the hours we are present.
Counselling & Pastoral Care
One-to-one pastoral engagement, emotional support, and practical counsel for inmates facing trauma, grief, and uncertainty.
Post-Release Support
We believe prison ministry should not end at the prison gate. We actively support released inmates through follow-up, reintegration assistance, and community connection.

Redemption Behind Prison Walls
When Ruth entered prison, she carried a past marked by pain, anger, broken relationships, and devastating choices. A tragic chain of events had led her into criminal activity that ultimately resulted in her imprisonment. By the time she encountered prison ministry volunteers from The Bridging Church, her life appeared to be defined by her worst decisions.
Through regular prison ministry visits, biblical teaching, discipleship, prayer, and pastoral care, Ruth encountered the message of Jesus Christ and responded to the Gospel. The anger that once consumed her gave way to repentance. Hopelessness gave way to purpose.
Today, while still serving her sentence, Ruth is pursuing higher education, actively growing in her faith, participating in Christian fellowship, and embracing a future centred on Christ rather than her past mistakes.
"Her story stands as a powerful reminder that no prison sentence is stronger than the grace of God."
Where We Are Going
We envision a future where incarceration is not the end of a person's story but the beginning of a transformed life through the power of the Gospel.
Serve all current facilities with expanded structured discipleship. Develop formal post-release follow-up systems and expand Bible resource distribution.
Expand to 20+ correctional facilities. Launch formal reintegration partnerships providing education and vocational training for released inmates.
